1. Jeff
Adult (3 years 5 months) · Male · Bulldog (short coat) · 76 mi from Macon

Jeff is scheduled to be transported to New Jersey on Nov. 12, 2026 and be available for adoption at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes over the Nov 1-15 weekend. An applications for Jeff's adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to "Register" or "Login"). Questions about Jeff and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please no phone calls.
Read more about Jeff
Jeff was part of a litter of Bulldog pups that came to SoCo Rescue in July of 2023. Two of his brothers, Solomon and Simon, were adopted to families in New Jersey in early 2025. Due to a reduced number of larger dogs being adopted over the past few years and having to overcome the bulldog stigma, Jeff has had to wait patiently for the opportunity to find his new home. While they have not yet met, we believe that Jeff's adopter is currently looking for a dog just like him and that this is Jeff's time to finally find his new home.
Jeff is very people friendly and has even done very well when interacting with other dogs in a controlled environment. He loves going on walks and long hikes and having the opportunity to run and play in a large outdoor fenced area. While he's not yet had any experience living as an indoor dog, we believe he'll adjust to life as a couch potato with proper training as he is a quick learner.
Jeff has been kept up to date on his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and monthly preventatives since coming into our rescue. He was recently neutered and given both a heartworm and fecal exam, both of which gained negative test results. He's never displayed any aggressive behavior towards people or other dogs, but we'd recommend a "meet-an- greet" with any other dogs that he may share a new home with prior to an adoption. Jeff has also already been microchipped.

Questions about Grace and/or our adoption process should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the Rescue's number.

Grace came from the same litter that also yielded her two sisters, Gina and Gussie, who are currently also available for adoption. While Gina, Gussie and their siblings all came into our rescue at the same time, Grace was surrendered to SoCo a month later which delayed her being available for adoption. The entire "G" litter came to us as owner surrenders and we're helping the former owner get all of his other dogs spay and neutered.
Grace is much bigger than her siblings and seems to have also have much more energy than they did. Her ideal home will allow for ample space and time to expel some of her energy. She does play well with other dogs and simply adores her human counterparts. Despite benign very energetic, Grace also loves to cuddle up next to anyone who'll spend time with her.
Grace has received an update on her annual vaccinations, de-wormings and kept up to date on her monthly preventatives. She's also already been spay and had her microchip inserted. She is accustomed to sleeping in a crate, which will be helpful during her continued house training. She does walk decently on a leash.

3. Vance
Adult (4 years 5 months) · Male · Bulldog (short coat) · 76 mi from Macon

Vance is currently located at our rescue in Georgia. An application for his adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Vance and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the Rescue's number.
Back in August of 2023, a stray Bulldog wandered onto our property on Vance Rd. We have no idea where he came from or how he ended up at our rescue, and a search for his owner proved to be futile. While Vance looked big and scary, and having a few scars on his face, he's proven to be a very friendly dog.
Read more about Vance
Vance has been with us for a while due to the slow process in finding bigger dogs a new home. But we've decided to really push for his opportunity to find a new home as he more than deserves that. He is very friendly towards people and hasn't shown any aggressive behavior towards other dogs, but we'd still require a "meet-and-greet" with any dog that he'll share a home with. Over the past few months, Vance has spent time living in the home of Scott Bennett and had done exceptionally well. He's accustomed to staying in a crate and hasn't relieved himself while in it.
Since coming to our rescue, Vance has been kept up to date on all of his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and monthly preventatives. He He did test positive for heartworms and is currently undergoing treatments. Once that has been completed, he will be ready to find his new home. While Vance has shown some house training skills, he may need additional training once in a new home. Vance has also already been microchipped

7. Joe
Young (8 months) · Male · Cane Corso Mastiff / Mixed (short coat) · 81 mi from Macon

Joe just showed up at a family's home and stayed. After attempts to find the owner failed, it was clear he was dumped.
He’s very sweet and easy going but still a very strong dominant type dog. We would prefer someone with experience with this breed but will consider if they’ll sign up for training. Amazingly smart and dedicated dogs as long as well socialized and time is spent with them.
We're saying only older, sturdy kids because he is so large and strong.
Age: 9 months
Weight: 68 lbs
Temperament: Gets along with cats, dogs and older sturdy kids
Training: needs basic training
Vetting: neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative

For a couple of days, we noticed a very young puppy running loose and just outside of our dog kennels. He apparently heard our dogs barking and was trying to find safety within our rescue, but would run away whenever we tried to lure him to us. We ended up setting a trap and was able to catch Smith within a day's time. And, boy, was he ever happy to see us as he was all tail wags and excited when we took him from the trap. About a week after his capture, we found his sister, Kathy, roaming free in the same spot just below the rescue.
Smith quickly displayed his very friendly, playful personality to us. He shows us everyday just how happy he is that we found him and is always eager to give us kisses and snuggle up in our arms. While we're not really sure of his breed mix, we do know that he'll add lots of love to his new family
Smith has received 2 of 3 of his first year "puppy" vaccines, been de-wormed on multiple occasions and started on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. He's still too young to receive his rabies vaccine, which should be obtained after he reaches 12 weeks of age. His adopter must agree on having Smith neutered once he reaches 6 months old and provide verification of such to our rescue.

11. Kathy
Puppy (2 months 25 days) · Female · Unknown breed (short coat) · 76 mi from Macon

Kathy is with a loving foster family near Ringoes, NJ. An application for Kathy's adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Kathy and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the Rescue's number.
Read more about Kathy
Kathy was found as a stray that had apparently been abandoned just below SoCo Rescue. While she was found all alone, we had actually found what appears to be her brother (Smith) a week earlier in the same place and had to set a trap to catch him. Kathy was very thin and hungry when found as her time as a stray had already begun to take its toll on her small body.
We're not exactly sure of Kathy's breed mix but think that she'll end up being a mid-sized dog once fully grown. What we do know is that she's already well-socialized towards people and other pups and has a great personality. She loves to snuggle and receive attention from our staff. Kathy should make a great addition into a home that is seeking a mid-sized dog and can give her plenty of room to run and play
Kathy has already received 2 of 3 of her first year puppy vaccines. She's still a little too young to receive her rabies vaccine, which should be administered after she reaches 12 weeks of age. Kathy's adopter must agree to having her spay once she reaches 6 months old and provide SoCo Rescue with verification of such. Kathy will require all of her basic training.

HERE'S WHAT HER FOSTER MOM HAS TO SAY!
Meet TJ! Bubbly, playful, and full of sass one minute, then happily curled up in your lap the next. She’s sweet, snuggly, and always ready for fun. She does the cutest prancing when she wants to come and sit in your lap.
Read more about Tj
She loves playing with other dogs and kids. She may occasionally decide that someone else’s toy looks better than hers and walk away with it, doing a little prancing along the way, but she’ll definitely steal your heart!
And this girl is SMART! Like, “Wait, how did you figure that out already?” smart. She picks up new things within minutes and is eager to learn. She’s young, curious, and ready to soak up everything her person is willing to teach her.
Poppi is truly all love in a tiny package. She’s sweet and sassy, playful and peaceful, silly and snuggly, basically, the whole package.
Her rescue story….
TJ was found as a stray puppy by a local family. She was very thin, scared and in need of help. TJ was brought to SoCo Rescue after a search for her possible owner yielded no positive results.
It didn't take long for TJ to show us her true personality. She's very active, playful and well-socialized towards both people and other pups. She loves "talking" to us, letting us know when she's hungry, wants playtime or just a belly rub. There's no doubt that TJ will fit rather nicely into just about any home situation.
We've just started TJ on her regiment of de-wormings and vaccinations. She has already received 1 of 3 of her first year puppy vaccines. TJ's adopter must agree to having her spay once she reaches 6 months old and provide SoCo Rescue with verification of such. TJ will require all of her basic training.
Per our adoption policy, TJ can be pre-adopted, but will not be released to her new home until a week after receiving her second vaccine ( Estimated release date: Nov. 9).

We were recently made aware of a stray female dog that had been roaming a neighboring city. This dog would frequent a particular house as the family that lived there would provide her food, water and even shelter during bad weather. This girl has also been very elusive, preventing the family from catching her. Over the past year, this girl has now produced two litters, the latest being our "D" litter pups. SoCo Rescue is going to assist with capturing this girl and having her spay to prevent any further litters.
Demy is undoubtedly the more rambunctious pup of this litter, in fact, you can see her mischievousness in her eyes. At the same time, she is also a very affectionate girl who will bring a lot happiness into your life. She loves playing with her siblings so a home with another dog would be great for Demy.

While still too young to receive his rabies vaccine (obtain after 12 weeks of age), he has already received 1 of 3 of his first year puppy vaccines. His adopter must agree to having Davis neutered once he reaches 6 months of age and provide verification of such to our rescue.
Per our adoption policy, Davis can be pre-adopted, but will not be released to his new home until a week after receiving his second vaccine (Est. released date: Nov. 9).

21. Gerald
Adult (1 year) · Male · Great Pyrenees (long coat) · 84 mi from Macon

Meet Gerald, a giant, cuddly baby who is 100% convinced he’s a lapdog! Sweet as can be and endlessly goofy, this oversized puppy gets along wonderfully with kids of all ages, adults, and other dogs. When he’s not throwing his favorite squeaky toys around the room, Gerald’s primary mission is snuggling—whether that means laying across your feet, leaning in for endless pets, or using you as his personal mattress. Because he thrives on human connection and just wants to be part of the action, Gerald would do best with a family where someone works from home or is open to doggy daycare. His ideal adopters won't mind a little extra fur, routine drool, and a gentle giant who is still learning spatial awareness and realizing he's slightly too big to actually fit in your lap.

28. Balto
Adult · Male · Shepherd (long coat) · 99 mi from Macon

Balto is a six year old male Shepherd mix, and a stunning boy who turns heads wherever he goes! Balto’s gorgeous, fluffy coat practically glows, and it’s so comforting to pet his super-soft fur. This sweet well-mannered boy rides well in the car and walks nicely on a leash, especially enjoying leisurely walks and taking life at a comfortable pace. Most of all, he loves spending time with his people and is happiest simply being by your side. While Balto adores people, he is not good with cats. He can also be somewhat dog-selective, where he likes some dogs but not others. Hence a Meet and Greet would be needed if there are other dogs in the home. Balto has been adopted twice and dearly loved as a “great dog”, but had to be returned through no fault of his own: in one case due to a landlord’s weight limit for dogs, and in another case due to a health issue that arose in the family. Balto has already had two families love him. What he needs now is the family who can make sure the third time truly is the charm - the ones who will open their heart and never let Balto wonder again when his forever home is coming. Come meet this very special boy soon!

The adoption fee covers the spay/neuter surgery, a 1-year rabies shot, an fvrcp shot (feline distemper/upper respiratory vaccine), test for feline aids and leukemia, deworming, and microchip.

A SWEET SENIOR FELLOW: Approx. 12 years old / Approx. 56 lbs.
Hi there, I'm Boomer! I was adopted along with another dog named Vixey, who is also available for adoption, when we were both puppies. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I've liked the other dogs I've met, and I must have another gentle sweet dog in my new home to hang around with. I don't play; I just need the security of another dog friend, so let's meet. I formerly went to doggie daycare and did well there, but I think I'm past the playing stage. / I met a kitty at the shelter and we all agree that I should not live with cats. / I haven't met kids yet in my foster home, but my former family reported that I liked the kids I met while I was with them, though I don't recall their ages, so if you have kids, let's meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My foster reports that I'm a big, sweet, goofball who is pretty happy-go-lucky, as long as I have another dog in my home to hang out with. They also say that I have a calm nature and have been very well-behaved, I don't even get on the furniture or counter surf. I've been great with all people I've met and in fact, I don't like being left without people, so I do a little barking and moaning when left. I'd be happiest with a family member who is home a good bit, such as a work-from-home or stay-at-home family member. I'm a sweet old soul that just wants to be around you and enjoy my golden years. / Energy level: 2-4.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don't seem concerned about or know commands but if you like, Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so we could give them a try. / I've never been crated and do not seem to need one. When my foster leaves the house for a few hours at a time, I've been fine. At night I sleep in a dog bed next to my foster's bed. / My potty manners are good on my foster's takeout schedule of every few hours. My former family reported that I also used potty pads when they were gone longer.
• LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy the company of my dog friends, chewing on a squeaky toy, taking short walks, and soaking up lots of affection! I'm also perfectly happy to spend much of the day relaxing and would love nothing more than to be in whatever room my person is in. I'm an easygoing fellow who just likes having my people nearby. Celery and carrots make great little treats, too! / I don't really like being left without my people, and I may let you know with a few barks and moans that I'd much rather have you nearby! And I don't think I'd be happy living without another calm dog. Like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, and training.
• MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I'm on an inexpensive over-the-counter joint supplement called Cosequin that's good for all older dogs. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I have a chronic cough which has been thoroughly checked out by the vets and does not seem to be of concern, other than some medication. Just ask how this is going.
I'm a wonderful fellow looking for a family that will treasure me and with another friendly dog to hang out with. My adoption fee is $100.00, and I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Watch Peachtree Connie's video
Meet Peachtree Connie - an 8 month old, German Shepherd mix with a sweet heart, a bright mind, and a whole lot of love to give.
When she’s fully grown, Connie will be a sturdy, athletic companion at about 50–60 pounds: big enough to keep up on adventures, compact enough to snuggle close. She’s crate trained and leash trained, and she’s working hard on potty training like any good puppy her age.
Read more about Peachtree Connie
She’s very smart and picks things up quickly, especially when there’s a game of fetch involved. Toss a toy and watch her light up! She loves to play and loves even more to be with her people. Connie is a little shy at first and takes some time to warm up, but once she trusts you, she’s all in. She’s good with older children, big dogs, and cats, and she’s looking for an active home that will give her exercise, patience, and plenty of togetherness.
Give this girl a little space to bloom and she’ll reward you with loyalty, playfulness, and a devoted companion who just wants to be part of the family. If you’re ready for walks, fetch sessions, and a smart girl who’ll grow into her confidence right beside you, Peachtree Connie might be your girl.

Adopting a large dog in Macon
Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.
Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
