1. Chickpea
Young (1 year) · Female · Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) · 93 mi from Marana

Say hello to Chickpea! Chickpea is an approximately one-year-old, nine-pound Terrier mix, adoptable through Chi Town Rescue in Phx., Az. When Chickpea first came to the shelter from her former home, she was extremely fearful and wouldn't allow us to pet her without running away or nipping at us. Chickpea has been at the rescue about two months and has made enough progress that we are comfortable listing her for foster or adoption. That said, Chickpea is still fearful with new people and will need a family willing to go slow and let her progress on her own time. Chickpea needs a home with no young children, and a home with a secure yard that she can access for playtime/potty-time.
Read more about Chickpea
Chickpea is not leash trained yet and will do best working up to this slowly. Chickpea is social with other dogs and a canine buddy in her new home will likely help her warm up to a new environment faster. Chickpea has made a lot of progress behaviorally in the few months she's been at the shelter, and we are confident she will blossom even further in a loving and patient home setting. Does Chickpea sound like she might be a match for you? Email us at chitownrescue@gmail.com for more information/meet and greet appointment. Chickpea's adoption fee includes spay surgery, vaccinations up to date including Rabies certificate, and microchip.

MEET DUDLEY #2!!
Read more about Dudley
Dudley is a sweet, affectionate, and very playful boy with a lot of personality and energy. He loves attention, playing with his toys, being outside, going for walks, and especially playing with other dogs. He really loves having someone to play with. He can be pretty enthusiastic during playtime, so another playful dog who can match his energy would be a great match. He is good with adults and elementary aged children on a leash, but he has not been testing with children in a home. He is housetrained, uses a doggy door, and knows basic commands. He does fairly well on a leash, but he still pulls at times, especially when he's excited about going for a walk. He is a typical young Husky who is curious, energetic, and always looking for something to do.
Dudley has some separation anxiety, particularly when he is left alone crated. This is improving, and he has a prescription for trazodone to help when he needs to be crated for extended periods of time. He also has enamel hypoplasia which affects the enamel on his teeth. He received a dental treatment, including bonding, in August 2026. Dudley's current owner is unable to give him the exercise and attention he needs and is heartbroken to have to find him a new home. Dudley would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, plenty of exercise, attention, and companionship. A bonus would be a similarly energetic pet sibling too. Meet Dudley today!

4. Flaco
Adult (2 years) · Male · Belgian Shepherd Malinois (medium coat) · 59 mi from Marana

Hi, I’m Flaco, and I’m looking for my forever home... again.
My name is Flaco, and I’m a handsome, approximately 2-year-old Belgian Malinois mix with a heart that’s every bit as big as my ears. Life hasn’t always gone exactly as planned for me, but I’m hoping my next chapter will be the one that lasts forever.
Read more about Flaco
Just over a year ago, my brother and I were found wandering the streets of Yuma as strays. Nobody came looking for us, and we weren’t sure what the future would hold. Thankfully, we were rescued by the wonderful people at Central Arizona Animal Rescue. They gave us safety, food, love, and a chance to find families of our own. Before long, both my brother and I were adopted, and it seemed like our happy ending had arrived.
Recently, though, I found myself back at the rescue.
My family welcomed a new baby, and as their lives became busier, they decided they no longer had enough time for me. While it was hard to lose my home, everyone at the rescue has reminded me that this isn't the end of my story. It’s simply a detour on the road to finding the family that’s truly meant for me.
If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I absolutely love people. Whether we're going for a walk, hanging out in the yard, watching television, or just relaxing together, I’m happiest when I’m near my humans. I’m not looking for anything extravagant. Honestly, I just want to be part of your life.
I also enjoy the company of other dogs. I get along well with little dogs and dogs my own size, and I love having canine friends to spend time with. If your home already has a dog looking for a buddy, there’s a good chance we could become best friends. As for cats, my rescue friends just haven’t had the opportunity to test me with them yet, so that remains a mystery.
I’m told I’m house-trained, which means I understand that outside is the place to take care of business. I also know some commands and have already learned some good manners. Like many young dogs, I would love continued training and guidance. The good news is that I’m smart and eager to learn.
Speaking of smart, let’s talk a little about my breed. Belgian Malinois are known for their intelligence, loyalty, athleticism, and strong bonds with their people. We are often chosen for police work, search-and-rescue, service work, and other demanding jobs because we love having a purpose and enjoy learning new things. While I certainly have that classic Malinois intelligence, I’m also an incredibly sweet and social guy who simply enjoys being around people and canine companions. I would thrive with an active family that can include me in daily adventures, give me exercise, and continue helping me be the very best dog I can be.
What I’m really searching for is someone who won’t see me as a temporary part of their life. I want a family that understands dogs are forever. A family that will celebrate the good times, help me through the challenges, and let me spend every day knowing I belong.
I’ve already been through being lost once. I’ve already experienced coming back to rescue through no fault of my own. Now I’m ready for the happy ending I’ve been dreaming about.
Could that happy ending be with you?
If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a smart and affectionate best friend, and a dog who is ready to shower you with love and gratitude, I’d love to meet you.
To schedule an appointment to meet me, please email Central Arizona Animal Rescue at mike@caaronline.org.
I’ll be waiting with a wagging tail, hopeful eyes, and my heart wide open for the family that finally says, “Flaco, you’re home.” ❤️
PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.

5. Charm
Adult (2 years) · Female · Chinese Shar-Pei · 21 mi from Marana

How does a Shar Pei rescue celebrate Halloween? Forget the costumes, pumpkin photos and all the cute stuff. We head straight to the local shelter and rescue a Shar Pei who needs us. Because apparently we don't know how to have a normal Halloween.
Meet Charm!
Charm lived with her family, which included five human kids and a Pittie sibling. Like so many families right now, hers fell on hard times, and they made the difficult decision to surrender their pups to the shelter in Phoenix, AZ.
Read more about Charm
Her family had wonderful things to say about this girl. She was great with their kids and got along with both big and little dogs. Unfortunately, the shelter doesn't always get to see the wonderful family dog hiding behind the kennel door.
But the Shar Pei rescue brigade was on the case!
With a few tasty treats, Charm decided we weren't so bad after all. She came right up, hopped aboard and was off to her foster home. Just like that, her Halloween took a much better turn. ❤️
Charm will need a little medical TLC before adoption, including her spay, entropion surgery and bloodwork.
She's now safe and settling into her foster home in Phoenix, AZ. Stay tuned as we get to know this sweet girl!
Happy Halloween from Pei People. Some people hand out candy. We apparently collect Shar Peis.

Young · Female · Poodle (Miniature) / Maltese / Mixed (long coat) · 96 mi from Marana

Meet Linda! A little girl who is finally learning what love feels like.

She’s a happy, energetic little girl with a big personality! Linda is smart and eager to learn, but she still needs some guidance and training as she adjusts to being a cherished family member. She also gets along well with other dogs!

14. Gino
Adult · Male · Rottweiler · 70 mi from Marana

Meet Gino!Gino is a big, goofy boy weighing in at 112 pounds! He wants nothing more than to nuzzle his face into your lap to receive all the pets and love you can give. His temperament is sweet and docile, and he is a smart boy with just a fun dash of classic Rottie stubbornness. We rescued Gino off the county shelter's euthanasia list on 10/20/26. He was placed on the list because when he became overstimulated from excitement or petting, he would mount his handler. Knowing what a sweet soul he is, we were so excited when a proffessional trainer offered to foster and train him! She is working with Gino to curb this behavior and help him become the absolute best version of himself.

When we picked him up, he had a case of kennel cough, which is now almost fully resolved, as well as some nosebleeds. We have already taken him to our vet and are actively working toward getting him back into tip-top shape! 15. Squishy
Adult (6 years) · Female · Chinese Shar-Pei · 21 mi from Marana

MEET SQUISHY!
Okay, okay… save the eye rolls. We know Squishy is right up there with Wrinkles on the Shar Pei name list. But when you're this adorable, you can pretty much get away with anything, including a name that sounds like a stress ball.
Squishy came to us as a stray in Phoenix, AZ, and apparently had some STRONG opinions about her post-entropion treatment at the shelter. Let's just say when she jumped into our car, we could practically hear her telling the shelter to ✌️… and if dogs could actually give the middle finger out the back window, we're pretty sure she did.
Read more about Squishy
But wait, there's MORE! The shelter was also convinced Squishy was having an ALLERGIC REACTION because her face looked swollen.
Seriously, guys… have we never seen a Shar Pei before?! That's not necessarily a medical emergency; sometimes it's just a face with more wrinkles than a shirt left in the dryer for three days. Those folds are factory-installed features, not a software glitch!
Now, of course, any genuine medical concern deserves attention, but we're pretty sure Squishy's face didn't come as a surprise to her parents. She's a Shar Pei, not a pufferfish!
Here's the funny part: we haven't seen a single bit of the behavior they described. So either she genuinely disliked everyone at the shelter, or they simply weren't fluent in Shar Pei. There's a difference, people!
They listed her as six years old, and if that's true, we need her skincare routine, her supplement list, and the name of her dermatologist. Because this girl is aging better than most of us with a 12-step skincare regimen. Seriously, what's her secret?!
Squishy is great with other dogs, but her true happy place is wherever the PEOPLE are. And when we say people, we mean ALL people. Even the person she met five minutes ago? Yep, best friends. She's not here to play hard to get. She has love to give, and she's not wasting any time getting it out there. ❤️
She's also got a killer fitness routine. Her secret to staying trim? ZOOMIES. Lots and lots of zoomies! We're currently on a mission to put a few pounds on this little lady because, despite what her pictures might suggest, she's a petite little short stack weighing in at just 38 pounds. Basically, she's a whole lot of personality packaged into a compact, wrinkle-covered body.
Squishy will see our vet before adoption, and she's currently fostering in Tucson, AZ.
So, if you're looking for a dog who will love you immediately, make you laugh daily, keep you company everywhere you go, and possibly judge your life choices with one deeply wrinkled expression… we might have found your girl.
Apply for Squishy today! Because life is too short not to have a little extra Squish in it. ❤️

MEET SULLY — OUR SWEET YOUNG CANE CORSO!
Meet Sully, a handsome black Cane Corso boy, approximately 8 months to 1 year old, with a heart of gold! ❤️
Sully and his sister were abandoned in the desert. Thankfully, HARTT was able to trap Sully and bring him to safety after someone took his sister home.
Despite his rough start, Sully is an incredibly sweet, social, dog-friendly, and people-loving boy who just wants to please and be loved!
He LOVES playgroup, especially chasing his buddies Diamond and Beauty around the yard. His favorite game is King of the Mountain, where he gets all his friends to chase him! And when playtime is over, he’s always ready for cuddles.
When Sully first arrived, he was terrified to go outside and wanted to run straight back to his kennel.
Read more about Sully
Now he’s gaining confidence, enjoying the outdoors, and learning that life can be wonderful! ❤️
Sully may not be the biggest or most traditional-looking Corso, but his personality more than makes up for it!
We think he’d make a wonderful family companion. Like any young Corso, he’ll benefit from basic training, routine, structure, and a family committed to helping him continue to blossom.
Sully survived being abandoned. Now he deserves a family who will never leave him behind.

But look at her now! ❤️ She’s gaining weight, thriving, and showing us what an absolute sweetheart she is!
And we’ve discovered something wonderful about Zuri — she absolutely LOVES children! She’s also dog friendly and enjoys having four-legged friends.
Zuri is a petite little fawn Corso mix, definitely on the smaller side, which makes her even more adorable!
We would absolutely LOVE to find Zuri a family with children to love and spoil her.

After everything she’s been through, she deserves a home filled with love, laughter, soft beds, full bowls, and little humans to call her own.

21. Zeke
Young · Male · Rottweiler · 70 mi from Marana

Meet Zeke! Our Newest Rotten Rottie!Zeke is an absolutely stunning young male Rottweiler. He was found as a stray and brought to Maricopa County Animal Care & Control, where he ultimately ended up on the euthanasia list. While at the shelter, he was friendly with staff and caused no issues. Even the veterinary team was able to handle him easily. If you’ve ever owned a Rottweiler, you know the vet can be a challenging environment for them. The reason he was placed on the euthanasia list was due to dog reactivity reported in the shelter lobby, as well as his finder mentioning that he reacted to other people and dogs while on leash.
Read more about Zeke
This type of behavior is common to the breed and in high-stress shelter environments. With consistency and proper training, it can be managed or overcome. When I met Zeke, I didn't see any reactivity at all. I took him out of his kennel, walked him into a play yard, and navigated past other dogs. He even sat calmly outside his kennel while we readjusted his leash with other dogs barking just a few feet away, and he didn't react. He stayed focused on me and sat patiently. However, just because I didn't witness reactivity during our initial meeting doesn't mean it never occurs. Once we get to know Zeke better and observe him across different settings, we’ll have a clearer picture of what support and environment he needs to succeed.Regardless of why he was on the euthanasia list, after meeting Zeke and seeing what a wonderful dog he is, we knew we had to save him. We don't know his exact age, but he appears to be between 1 and 2 years old. So far what we have seen from Zeke is a smart, even-tempered, affectionate, and gentle boy.As we spend more time learning his personality, likes, and dislikes, we will update his profile. At this time, we do not know how he does with other dogs, small animals, or children, but we will try to test him in as many different environments as is safe and appropriate. In addition, Zeke will be heading to training with Amanda at Paw Creek Training next week! Amanda will determine how he does with other dogs, correct any behavioral concerns she finds, and teach him all his basic obedience. We can't wait to watch Zeke become the best version of himself! We truly believe Zeke is going to make an amazing companion, and we look forward to helping him build the life he has always deserved! If you are interested in meeting Zeke or any of our adoptable dogs, please visit our website at http://www.rottenrottie.com and complete our adoption questionnaire.Adoption Process:If you are interested in adopting one of our fun-loving, "not-so-rotten" Rotties, you will be asked to fill out our adoption application which allows us to get to know you better. This ensures the dog you are interested in is a good fit for your family and lifestyle. You can access our Adoption Application by visiting our website at http://www.rottenrottie.com, click on Adopt a Rottweiler, Adoption Application, and submit the form online. After reviewing your answers, if we feel the dog you are interested in is not a match for your family, we may recommend a different Rottweiler companion. Once we determine which dog is best for you, we will schedule a meeting at their current home, where they feel most comfortable and act naturally. We require a home check to ensure each dog is going to a safe environment. To finalize the process, an adoption contract must be signed. We also require a rehoming fee, which is typically $500 for most adults and $350 for seniors (6 years and older) or Rottweiler mixes of any age (excluding puppies). Fees for puppies fluctuate depending on the investment required for the litter and whether they are purebred or a mix. These funds are necessary for our organization to continue rehoming Rottweilers in need. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and have tested negative for heartworms. Each dog comes with a collar and a leash. We also address any injuries or illnesses the

Adult (1 year 1 month) · Female · Dachshund / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 59 mi from Marana

DOLLY & MIRA — TWO LITTLE HEARTS WAITING TO FEEL SAFE
Some dogs know what it feels like to have a home, but they’ve never truly experienced what it means to be loved. Dolly and Mira are two of those little souls.
These beautiful sisters were part of a group of three puppies, but one of their sisters was given away. Dolly and Mira had an owner from the time they were puppies, yet they didn't receive the attention, time, socialization, and training they needed to grow into confident, secure dogs.
Read more about Mira
Born in September 2025, these little girls are still so young. They should be experiencing the world with confidence, learning new things, playing, and feeling safe in the arms of the people who love them. Instead, they're now learning that the world doesn't have to be so scary.
Dolly and Mira are in a new foster home, and right now, they're frightened and unsure of their surroundings. But slowly, little by little, they're beginning to relax. They're starting to realize that life can be different — that gentle hands, kind voices, patience, and love are possible. ❤️
They're learning the basics, including potty training and adjusting to crate training. They still have a lot to learn, and they'll need a family who understands that progress may take time. There may be setbacks, nervous moments, and days when they need extra reassurance.
But please don't overlook them because they're scared.
These girls aren't broken. They aren't bad dogs. They're simply learning things that should have been taught to them from the beginning. They need someone willing to see their potential rather than their fears.
Meet Dolly & Mira
❤️ Born September 2025
Chiweenies (Dachshund/Chihuahua mixes)
Learning potty training and crate training
Looking for a patient, loving family committed to helping them build confidence
We would love for these sisters to find a home together, if possible. After losing the third member of their little trio and going through so many changes, there is something special about the comfort they may find in one another. Separate homes may also be considered if the right families come along.
Dolly and Mira don't need someone to make them perfect overnight. They need someone who will celebrate the little victories — the first time they approach without fear, the first time they settle comfortably in their crate, and the first time they truly believe they're home.
Please be the person who shows them that they were always worth the time, the effort, and the love. ❤️
Ready to give Dolly or Mira the fresh start they deserve? Submit an adoption application at https://backthebluepetrescue.org/
Approved applicants can arrange a meet-and-greet, followed by a home check.

MEET PINTA — THE SWEET GIRL WHO DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE!

Read more about Pinta
At just 3 years old, Pinta has so much love left to give! She’s a super sweet girl who gets along with both other dogs and cats, making her a wonderful potential addition to a home with furry family members. 28. Buster
Adult (5 years) · Male · Chihuahua / Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 93 mi from Marana

Say hello to Buster! Buster is an approximately five-year-old, 25-pound mutt mix, available for adoption through Chi Town Rescue. Buster first came to the shelter in July 2024 with 10 other dogs, as part of a hoarding case in Concho, Az. All of the dogs were fearful to varying degrees and all but three (including Buster) have found forever homes. Buster was one of our hold-outs as far as being comfortable with the humans. A few months ago, Buster broke through those walls and decided to let the humans start petting him! Not only is Buster allowing us to pet him, he will even nudge us if we stop AND offer us his paw to hold (it's the cutest thing!).
Read more about Buster
Buster will undoubtedly be shy with new people, but if you go slow and have patience, we are sure Buster will eventually warm up to his new human friends. Buster is social with other dogs and enjoys playing and zooming. He would do best in a home with another dog (or two!), as they can help him feel more comfortable in a new environment. Buster also enjoys squeaky toys, zoomies, and snacks. He is a curious guy who will follow you around once he trusts you (and especially if there's food involved). Buster would do best in a home with no small children, and a secure yard/fencing. No apartments please, as Buster is not yet leash-trained and will need a yard he has access to, for potty training. If you have room in your heart and home for a special dog like Buster, please send us a message! Email chitownrescue@gmail.com for more information/meet and greet appointment with Buster. Buster's adoption fee includes neuter surgery, vaccinations up to date, and microchip.

Why adopt an adult dog in Marana
An adult dog's personality is fully formed, so the rescue can tell you how they are with people, other pets and busy households. Many have lived in foster homes and are already house-trained.
Grown dogs need less supervision than puppies and often know the basics, like sitting and walking on a leash, which suits people who work or have young children.
