2. Rylo

Puppy (9 months) · Male · Border Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 9 mi from Spring Valley

MEET RYLO!

9 months old

Chihuahua / Border Terrier mix

Male

19 lbs

Sweet, playful & full of love!

Meet

Rylo

, an adorable 9-month-old pup with a BIG personality packed into his little 19-pound body! Rylo is a happy, energetic, affectionate boy who loves being around his people. He has tons of love to give and is always ready for cuddles, kisses, playtime, and adventures.

Rylo is

very friendly and playful

and would love a home where he has plenty of room to burn off his puppy energy. A home with a yard would be wonderful for him, or he may enjoy having another playful dog around to keep him company and help tire him out!

❤️

ABOUT RYLO:

Read more about Rylo

Friendly, affectionate, and playful

High-energy and loves to run and play

Loves cuddling and sleeping with his people

Could enjoy having a playful dog friend

Has lived in apartments before, but would love more space

Surprisingly loves bath time and is super easy to bathe!

Smart and a quick learner

Sweet-natured and not aggressive

Rylo is still working on his

potty training

. His previous home allowed him to potty indoors and on the balcony, so he is learning a completely new routine. He is making progress, but his future family will need to continue working with him, give him frequent potty breaks, and be patient while he learns. He may also have an occasional excited pee when he gets really happy.

Cats:

Rylo has been living with three cats. He means them no harm, but when he gets excited, he wants to jump, run, and play, which can be overwhelming for cats. A home without cats may be the easiest fit unless the cats are confident and accustomed to energetic dogs.

People & Kids:

Rylo does well with people. He can sometimes bark when meeting someone new or around young children, but he responds well to correction and has already been improving. He can actually be a bit of a scaredy-cat himself sometimes! Underneath all that puppy excitement is a very sweet boy who wants to feel safe and loved.

Rylo’s current family loves him and hoped they could make things work, but living in a one-bedroom apartment with three cats simply isn’t the best environment for his energetic personality. They want to find him a home where he can

run, play, continue learning, and get all the love and attention he deserves.

❤️

Rylo is still just a puppy with so much potential. With some consistency, patience, exercise, and continued training, he is going to make an amazing companion.

3. Petunia

Young (4 years) · Female · French Bulldog (short coat) · 9 mi from Spring Valley

MEET PETUNIA
28 lbs • Female French Bulldog • Professional Cuddle Bug

Petunja’s story is one of our favorites. When we first met her, she was terrified of people and unsure of the world around her. Today? She absolutely LOVES meeting new people.

This sweet girl has blossomed while being fostered with one of our trainers, who has helped her build confidence and become the happy, affectionate girl we knew was hiding inside.

Petunja’s perfect day is pretty simple: be by your side, get some love, give even more love back, play with her toys, have the occasional case of the zoomies… and then get right back to lounging.

Petunja hasn’t had much experience with other dogs, so we’re looking for a home where she can be the only pet for now. Because of her past, older, respectful children would be the best fit for her.

She’s already done the hard part learning that people can be kind and that life can be good.

Now she just needs someone to show her that home can be forever.

9. Floyd

Young (2 years) · Female · Siberian Husky / Mixed (medium coat) · 9 mi from Spring Valley

MEET FLOYD — LOOKING FOR A RESCUE OR LOVING HOME

Name: Floyd

Age: Approximately 2 years old

Breed: Husky mix

⚖️ Weight: Approximately 35–45 lbs

♀️ Female • Spayed

Floyd has already been through so much, and now we’re hoping to help her find the safe and loving future she deserves. ❤️

We first met Floyd while feeding stray dogs in Tijuana. She was having trouble walking and her body was extremely jumpy and uncomfortable. At first, we assumed she was another dog living on the streets, but we eventually found her owner.

Read more about Floyd

Because of the owner’s disability and health circumstances, caring for Floyd and keeping her safely contained has become increasingly difficult. There is now concern that she could end up on the streets, so we are doing everything we can to find a rescue willing to take her in or help us find her a permanent home.

When we got Floyd veterinary care, we discovered that she was dealing with a serious uterine infection (pyometra) and was also heavily infested with ticks. Her condition was extremely serious, and without treatment she could have died.

We sponsored her surgery and continued helping with her recovery, including medication, vitamins, nutritious food, and other veterinary-recommended care.

And Floyd has been fighting her way back. ❤️

She went from barely being able to walk to standing and walking much better. Her tick infestation is gone, she is gaining weight, looking healthier, and getting stronger. Her veterinarian expects her to continue improving with proper nutrition, vitamins, and care.

Now she needs the next piece of her story: a safe place to land.

My friends and I are actually cat trappers in San Diego who primarily help our community through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). When we travel to Tijuana, we also bring food for animals in need and look for sponsors to help families get their pets spayed and neutered.

We aren’t a dog rescue, but after everything Floyd has been through, we couldn’t walk away from her.

We are reaching out in hopes that a reputable rescue, foster, or adopter can step forward and give this sweet girl the chance she deserves.

Floyd survived the hardest part. Now we just need to make sure she never has to fight for survival again.

14. Milo

Adult (6 years 1 month) · Male · Mountain Cur / Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 9 mi from Spring Valley

MEET MILO — A SURVIVOR READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME

It’s hard to imagine everything Milo has been through and even harder to understand how, after all of it, he is still such a gentle and loving soul.

Milo is estimated to be around

6 years old and weighs about 45 lbs.

He was rescued from the streets of Tijuana in heartbreaking condition. He was

severely emaciated, nothing but skin and bones, and suffering from terrible mange.

His body told the story of a dog who had been struggling for far too long.

But Milo never gave up. ❤️

After several weeks of treatment,

Milo has now been medically cleared to leave the kennel and continue his recovery in a home.

Read more about Milo

He still needs to gain weight and regrow his beautiful coat, but we already know there is a handsome boy waiting to emerge. More importantly, his personality has already begun to shine.

Despite everything he has endured, Milo is

incredibly sweet, gentle, and good with other dogs.

Even while living in a small kennel, he does everything he can to keep his space clean, waiting until he is taken outside to go potty. We believe this sweet boy understands what it means to keep his living space clean and may transition wonderfully into home life.

Milo did have

entropion

, a condition affecting his eyelids, and he got that surgery that fixed that.

What Milo needs now is something medicine alone cannot give him:

a home.

A soft bed. A person to love. A place where he can finally understand that he is safe and that he will never have to fight to survive again.

We would love to find someone willing to look beyond what Milo looks like today and see the dog he is becoming. With good food, continued care, patience, and love, we know this sweet boy is going to blossom. ❤️

After everything Milo has survived,

his next chapter deserves to be his best one.

Interested in meeting Milo and helping him continue to blossom?

Our goal is to find the right match for each pooch based on lifestyle, energy level, exercise regime, environment and living situation. To ensure we find a great match for each pup, the process includes: 1) Filling out an Adoption Application. 2) a play date with your furry friend, 3) a home check of the potential adopter, 4) an adoption contract, 5) an adoption fee. The adoption fees include spay/neuter, up-to-date shots, rabies vaccination, microchip & microchip registration, de-worming and the benefit of getting a pooch who has been living in a stable and loving environment. Dogs are fostered in our homes to create the same type of environment into which each will be adopted. We strive to meet each pup's needs in terms of exercise, socialization and basic manners, including potty training.

How to adopt from Baja Animal Sanctuary

After viewing our adoptable dogs, the next step would be to submit an application www.bajaanimalsanctuary.org on the dog you're interested in adopting. Once the application is received, it will be reviewed and a volunteer will contact you. We will then make arrangements for you to meet the dog at one of our next Adoption Events. Or, you may drive to our shelter located in Rosarito, Mexico (appointment is required). If after meeting the dog, and it is determined the dog is the right fit, you will begin the adoption as a two-week foster. If after the two weeks, you decide you'd like to keep your new furry friend, a volunteer will come out to your home and finalize the adoption. If for whatever reason during the two weeks you realize the dog is not the right fit, you will be able to bring the dog back to the next Adoption Event and our Business Office will mail you a full refund of the adoption fee. Adoption Fee: $275.00 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, current on their vaccines, and dewormed prior to being put up for adoption. Our dogs are rescues so basic training, including house training, will need to be done by the adopter, unless otherwise stated in the dog's bio. Once you have submitted your application, please be patient for a response. We are currently receiving a high volume of applications, and while we make every effort to respond to all applicants please understand if you don't hear back from us. Passion for Pitties is a foster-based pit bull rescue dedicated to finding loving, lifelong homes for dogs in need. Prospective adopters complete an adoption application, provide references, and participate in a screening process to ensure a good match. We conduct a home check (virtual or in-person) and arrange a meet-and-greet when appropriate. Approved adopters sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee, which helps offset the cost of vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neuter, and other veterinary care. Current adoption fees are $500 for puppies (newborn to 1 year), $300 for adult dogs (1–8 years), $250 for senior dogs (8+ years), and $500 for purebred dogs of any age. Adoption fees are subject to change and may vary based on an individual dog's age, breed, medical needs, or other factors.

  • Baja Dog RescueSan Diego, CA · 16 dogs · 9 mi from Spring Valley
How to adopt from Baja Dog Rescue

How the adoption process works Fill out the adoption questionnaire located below and submit it to us. Once we have reviewed/approved your application, we will contact you to arrange a "Meet & Greet". Many of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes. We must schedule a one-on-one "Meet & Greet" appointment with each individual dog. It takes time to schedule these appointments, however we do have a standard weekly adoption event at local Petco's, where we show dogs for adoption. We can arrange to have the foster's bring the dog to the Petco. This is the easiest way to set up a "Meet & Greet". These adoptions events are usually Saturday or Sunday. When going to a "Meet & Greet", please make sure you take any family members and other dogs to see how the initial introduction goes. That makes the entry into the new home easier for the dog and for you. How it Works: If your "Meet & Greet" goes well, you will complete an adoption contract at the appointment and can take the dog home then. We ask for a suggested adoption donation* to help us cover spay/neutering, shots, medical treatment, food, and supplies. Then you and your new best friend live happily ever after. It's as simple as that! *Baja Dog Rescue is a 501c(3) non-profit and all donations go directly to the care of our dogs and are 100% tax deductible. The suggested adoption donations only partially cover the cost of the expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs. What if the adoption doesn't

Adopting a dog in Spring Valley

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
